Theory of excitations in low-dimensional systems

Bachelor/Master thesis topics available!

Welcome to the website of the EOS Group!
In the ancient Greek mythology, EOS was the goddess of dawn. Here, it stands for Excitations in lOw-dimensional Systems.
The interaction between light and matter is a fascinating topic with relevant techological implications in the fields of optoelectronics, photovoltaics, photonics etc. When materials are tailored to the nanoscale, even more exciting phenomena take place upon their interaction with electromagnetic fields.
We study light-matter interaction with advanced first principles methods, based on density-functional theory (DFT) and its time-dependent extension (TDDFT) as well as of many-body perturbation theory (MBPT). We are interested in low-dimensional systems interacting with visible light and lasers as well as with x-ray radiation.
