Quantum Cascade Lasers
Light emitters based on intersubband transitions:
Quantum Cascade Laser Physics
Our group is interested in the physics of intersubband transitions in III-V heterostructures. The research concentrates on Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCL) for the short mid-infrared spectral range within the first atmospheric window (3-5 µm).
We are interested in:
- growth of novel and strain compensated materials for QC lasers
- optimiziation of processing methods for QCL devices
- characterization of QCL devices above and below threshold
- characterization of QCLs in magnetic fields
- applications of short-wavelength QCLs
- physics of intersubband detectors (QWIP)
