Department Colloquium: Prof. Dr. Tommaso Calarco (Institute for Theoretical Physics,  University of Cologne and Institute for Quantum Control of the Peter Grünberg Institute, Forschungszentrum Jülich) will speak about "The world’s fattest Schrödinger cat".

Abstract

Quantum optimal control enables efficient preparation of nonclassical states in many-body systems. Our new RedCRAB algorithm allows this to take place over an internet connection between the experiment and the optimisation server. I will report the application of this method to an online competition among human "gamers", as well as the creation of the largest entangled state to date (20 qubit in a GHz state).
